Daniel "Danny" Carlton (born
December 22, 1983 in Leeds, West Yorkshire) is an
English footballer, playing for Carlisle United.
Football career
On March 2, 2002, Carlton signed a professional contract
with Morecambe after coming up through their youth
academy. He made his Shrimps debut that same day,
playing a part in a 2-0 win over Scarborough. He scored
his first goal for the club one month later, on April 3,
2002, when Morecambe lost to Telford United 4-1.
Carlton's most important goal came in the 2007
Conference National Playoff Final, in which Morecambe
beat Exeter City 2-1. Carlton scored eight minutes from
time to send Morecambe into the The Football League for
the first time in their history.
Carlton, who made 199 appearances (74 as sub) for
Morecambe, scoring 62 goals in all competitions, was
signed by Carlisle United from Morecambe on 8 June,
2007. He made his Cumbrians and Football League debut on
August 11, 2007 playing a part in a 1-1 draw over
Walsall. In the first game of the 2008 - 2009 League One
Season against Bristol Rovers, Danny scored his first 2
league goals for Carlisle.
