David Raven (born March 10,
1985, Birkenhead in Wirral) is an English player, who currently plays for Carlisle United as a
right sided defender, having signed on a free
transfer from Liverpool. He currently occupies the right
full back position.
His professional career started, playing in Tranmere Rovers's
academy while attending Calday Grange Grammar School on
the Wirral before joining Liverpool.
Raven gave up a potential career on the music scene in
favour of footie He played a number of games at centre half for
Liverpool reserves throughout 2004 but Rafael Benítez, saw his best position as a right back. He
was a regular captain of Liverpool's reserve team, and
spent part of the 2005/06 season on loan at Tranmere Rovers.
Raven then moved to Carlisle United from Liverpool on a free transfer but
on his debut, disaster struck. He was injured after only
half an hour. An injury that would plague him for the
rest of the season. His competition at that time was
fellow right back Paul Arnison. (now departed) The
2007/08 season was much better for David, establishing himself as Carlisle's first choice
right back, and also winning the clubs Most Improved
Player of the Year award. He remains an integral part of
the team, regularly turning in some sterling
performances for the cause. |
